During the 2010 WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), Steve Jobs has introduced the 4th generation of Apple iPhone, iPhone 4. Coming in 16GB and 32GB two versions, Apple iPhone 4 cellular phone has greatly enhanced its feature from Apple iPhone 3GS. Maintaining the classic iPhone design, a huge multi-touch display with a home button, iPhone 4 has added metallic material on the body. The back is made with aluminium while front is covered with a piece of glossy glass that is ultra-durable and highly scratch resistant. A stainless steel band is placed surrounding the body to add a touch of elegance of the look. The band is not only for appearance, it also functions as the iPhone 4 antennas. What more exciting is, the new iPhone 4 is 24% thinner than iPhone 3GS. With only 9.3mm in thickness, iPhone 4 is the thinnest touchscreen smartphone up to date.

Apple iPhone 4 has another number one feature. Apple called it the Retina Display. The 3.5 inches Retina Display has the highest screen resolution among all the cellular phones in the market. The resolution is up to 640x960 pixels. The camera of iPhone 4 has upgraded to a 5.0 MP camera. Focusing can be done either by auto-focusing or by touch focus on display screen. Comes in with a built-in LED flash, pictures can still look stunning under low-light setting. Videos capturing is another hot feature from iPhone 4. Supporting 720p HD video recording, capturing up to 30frames/sec, it has the best quality in video capturing among all cellular phones at the time when iPhone 4 was announced.

One of the newest components iPhone 4 presented is the Apple Talk. It is a video calling feature using the built-in front camera. Differs from 3G network video calling, Apple Talk is only usable between iPhone 4 or when Wi-fi network is available. The quality of the display, however, is much better than usual 3G network video calling.

Formerly named iPhone OS4, iPhone 4 uses the newest operating system calls iOS4 (based on the macintosh OS). Using 1 GHz Apple A4 processor, it is using the same CPU as ipad. It has improved to almost a double from 3GS's 600MHz. Because it has to support the iOS4 multi-tasking, RAM has also increased double from 3GS's 256MB to 512MB.
