During the first season of 2010, Sony Ericsson has released their first Android powered smartphone XPERIA X10. It became insanely popular for Sony Ericcson fans. Not long after the Sim Free unlocked XPERIA X10 is out in the market, Sony Ericsson released another two models of XPERIA-series, which named X10 mini (E10) and XPERIA X10 mini pro (U20). Just looking at their names, it is already being seen easily as a compact form of X10 with the name of X10 mini/ mini pro.

Usually when talking about Android smartphone, they are often big in size. Sony Ericsson made a new attempt to aim for the target market who wants smartphones in a smaller size. With 2.55 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen , X10 mini pro is only 90 x 52 x 17 mm in dimension. The surface area is even smaller than a credit card. The difference between X10 mini and X10 mini pro is the additional built-in slide out full QWERTY keyboard. Even with the additional full QWERTY keyboard, it only adds an extra 1mm to the total thickness. Adding in the full QWERTY keyboard has helped consumers to type a lot easier due to the size of the screen.

Not only the size is reduced from the original X10, the specs of X10 mini/ mini pro also reduced as well. Firstly, the display screen is almost half of X10's 4 inches screen. Resolution of the display screen has also downgraded to QVGA but the scratch resistance surface still remains. X10 mini/ mini pro replaced with MSM7227 processor with 600MHz from the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

X10 mini/mini pro continues using Android 1.6 OS. The Timescape user interface carries forward to X10 mini/ mini pro also. Timescape UI is Sony Ericsson cellular phone exclusive software. Sorting by time, it helps user to check friend's recent update and action among Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. Timescape UI can also update the user's status on all of the above social communication networks at the same time. The Mediascape UI from X10, however, has been emitted from X10mini/mini pro. Although the Timescape UI on X10mini pro is a compact version, the 3D effect is still there to remain its fancy impact. Without the need of opening a lot of applications, Timescape UI allows user to check SMS, missed calls easily as well.

The Sony Ericsson U20a (X10 Mini Pro) built with North American Model (NAM) 3G HSDPA 850 / 1900 MHz which will compatible with US or Canada HSPA Network.
