Research In Motion Company (RIM) announced the second generation of the prevailingly popular Blackberry series, 9000 Bold, the unlocked smartphone RIM Blackberry 9700 Onyx Bold 2 is drawing a huge attention from the market by making improvements of the former.

Featuring the Bold family's unique leather back, 9700 Onyx Bold 2 unlocked world phone has been slimmed down to a size of 109x60x14mm. It is much slimmer than the original Blackberry 9000 Bold. One of the significant improvements has been made on the 9700 Onyx Bold 2 is the Trackpad controller, which has replaced the Trackball on the 9000 Bold. Simply slide fingers on the Trackpad to have an easier control; the replacement was also made to avoid the disjunction of the Trackball, which was a weakness of the 9000 Bold.

Most of the important features have been upgraded from the 9000 Bold to satisfy consumers. The camera of 9700 Onyx Bold 2 has been upgraded to 3.2 MP from 2.0 MP. Furthermore, with the 480x360 pixels, it performed a higher resolution compared to the 9000 Bold. The new generation of Bold also extended its battery life for consumer?s usage.

Blackberry 9700 Onyx Bold 2 uses 3G HSDPA Quadband networks, includes internal A-GPS as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v2.1. It also provides the function of browsing and creating Office documents such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint using the QWERTY keyboard. Apps could be downloaded or purchased from the Blackberry App World.
